THE STORY BEHIND THIS MCDONALD'S
This isn't the original building — it's actually the third McDonald's built at this same spot near Disney's All-Star Resorts. The previous restaurant closed in 2019 and was completely rebuilt from the ground up.

Designed by Ross Barney Architects — the same firm behind McDonald's LEED Platinum flagship in Chicago — the new roughly 8,000-square-foot restaurant was built to generate enough renewable energy on-site to cover 100% of its own energy use over a year, making it one of the first "net zero" restaurants in the world. It runs on rooftop solar panels plus building-integrated photovoltaic glass and off-grid parking lot lighting, and uses automated windows that let it skip air conditioning for about 65% of the year. Interactive touches — like stationary bikes guests can pedal to light up the Golden Arches — teach visitors about renewable energy while they wait on their order.

It's easy to drive right past without realizing how unusual it really is — most guests have no idea it's here.

THE ROUTE
1 – Begin at Disney's Pop Century Resort on Century Drive, heading toward Victory Way.
2 – Turn left onto Victory Way and continue toward Osceola Parkway.
3 – Turn right onto Osceola Parkway
4 – Take the exit at West Buena Vista Drive for All-Star Resorts / McDonald's
5 – Turn left onto West Buena Vista Drive
6 – Turn left into the McDonald's parking lot.
7 – Arrive at McDonald's, 1596 W Buena Vista Dr, Bay Lake, FL 32830.
