A SHORT HISTORY OF COUNTRY BEAR MUSICAL JAMBOREE
Country Bear Jamboree opened as one of Magic Kingdom's original attractions on October 1, 1971. The concept traces back to a never-built 1960s Disney ski resort, Mineral King, where Imagineer Marc Davis first sketched a show starring singing bears. The Frontierland attraction became one of the longest-running stage shows in Disney park history, running largely unchanged for over 50 years. On January 27, 2024, Disney closed the classic version for a full reimagining, and on July 17, 2024, it reopened as Country Bear Musical Jamboree — a new song lineup performed in country, bluegrass, and rockabilly styles, swapping the original 1970s soundtrack for country-fied Disney movie songs.
SAME SHOW, DIFFERENT PARK
Country Bear Theater at Tokyo Disneyland (opened 1983) runs the same underlying Country Bear stage-show concept and is currently the only other operating version in the world. Disneyland's original Country Bear Playhouse closed in 2001 and was replaced by The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh.
