⚓ HISTORY OF MICKEY'S SAIL-A-WAVE PARTY
Mickey's Sail-A-Wave Party!… A Bon Voyage Celebration is the embarkation day deck party aboard Disney Cruise Line's two original ships, the Disney Magic and the Disney Wonder. The party replaced the earlier "Adventures Away" sail away deck party and debuted aboard the Disney Wonder in February 2019 during a repositioning cruise from San Juan to Port Canaveral. It premiered on the Disney Magic just a few weeks later, on February 22, 2019.
The celebration invites guests to wave goodbye to work and school and hello to vacation. Guests wave Mickey gloves in the air, and a giant inflatable Mickey glove surrounds the DJ booth on stage. Families can dress up and Disney Bound, dance alongside the crew and characters, and show off their outfits on the "runWAVE." The party builds to a countdown led by the Cruise Director, ending with the ship's famous horn, which plays the opening notes of "When You Wish Upon a Star" as the ship pulls away from port.
The Disney Magic itself is where it all began. She was Disney Cruise Line's very first ship, sailing her maiden voyage in 1998, and she remains a fan favorite for her classic Art Deco style and intimate size.

When Mickey’s Sail-A-Wave Party! is in full swing, the excitement is captured by concert video cameras that project images of Guests dancing it out—you might even see yourself on the big screen! A giant inflatable Mickey glove on stage surrounds the DJ, creating a designated location on the pool deck so a runway performance can bring the action into the middle of the audience.
