Splash Mountain vs Tiana's Bayou Adventure — a full side by side 4K POV comparison of both log flume rides at Magic Kingdom, Walt Disney World, shown back to back with each attraction's own soundtrack.

Both rides share the same Frontierland show building, the same 52.5-foot drop, and the same 40-inch height requirement — but nearly everything between the lift hills is different. The first pass runs with Tiana's music. The second runs the same comparison with the original Splash Mountain soundtrack.

THE HISTORY OF SPLASH MOUNTAIN
Splash Mountain was built around characters and music from Disney's 1946 film Song of the South, a movie Disney has never released on home video in the United States. Three versions were built, and one is still running today.

Disneyland (Anaheim, California) — 1989 to 2023
The original opened July 17, 1989 in Critter Country. Imagineer Tony Baxter developed the concept, and Disney reused dozens of Audio-Animatronic critters from America Sings, a Tomorrowland attraction that had closed the year before. The Anaheim version was the shortest of the three, with three drops across roughly 2,640 feet of track. Disney announced in June 2020 that both U.S. versions would be reimagined around The Princess and the Frog (2009). Splash Mountain closed here on May 31, 2023, and Tiana's Bayou Adventure opened November 15, 2024 — the second of the two rethemes to debut. To match it, Critter Country was renamed Bayou Country.

Tokyo Disneyland (Tokyo, Japan) — 1992 to present
Opened October 1, 1992 in Critter Country, and it is still operating today — the only Splash Mountain left anywhere in the world. Tokyo's version has the longest track of the three at roughly 2,800 feet with four drops. Longtime sponsor Kao Corporation ended its partnership in November 2025, and when the ride reopened February 13, 2026 after a month-long refurbishment, the "Have a Zip-A-Dee Doo-Dah Day!" exit sign had been replaced with one reading "Thanks for dropping in!" Oriental Land Company has not announced any retheme.

Magic Kingdom (Walt Disney World, Florida) — 1992 to 2023
Opened October 2, 1992 in Frontierland, one day after Tokyo's. The Florida version was the longest ride of the three at roughly 11 minutes 45 seconds with five drops, and carried about 68 Audio-Animatronics figures. It closed January 23, 2023 — the first of the two American versions to go — and Tiana's Bayou Adventure opened here on June 28, 2024, making Magic Kingdom the debut park for the new attraction. The story picks up a year after The Princess and the Frog, with Tiana running an employee-owned food cooperative called Tiana's Foods, built inside a former salt mine.
